Let us Shine!

Great input today guys! Thanks for all of your ideas.

We left with the question of, "What am I going to do to 'Let my Light Shine' so that people may begin to know God?"

Here were some of the answers;
  • Giving God credit at work - when someone thanks or praises me, I will use that as an opportunity to let them know it is God.
  • Living as an example before non-believers.
  • Praying and listening for opportunities to share the Word.
  • Focusing on others, developing authentic relationships with them. Letting the opportunity come naturally.
  • Taking the lead at home - shining in front of kids, wife.

I would love to hear more practical ideas from you guys. Have an awesome day!

Shine!

JourneyMEN – May 31, 2007

INTRODUCTION:
In our early years, when life is changing and new experiences await us at every turn, purpose usually doesn't show up on our radar. We're much more concerned with who, what, and where to stop and consider the why. But at some point this question rises to the forefront, often due to discontentment with the rut of later life. So why are we here? As we look for the answer to the question of purpose, we'll look to Jesus to shed some light on the matter.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Was there a point in your life where you wrestled with your purpose? Are you wrestling with your purpose right now?

Read Matthew 5:14-16. A city located on a hill is in a very strategic location. A light in a house is strategically located to provide the maximum amount of light. How did God place strategic people in your life who were a light to you?

1.) What is God's purpose for you where you are now? How has God strategically placed you to be a light to others?

2.) How are you shining your light for others to see?

3.) What are the consequences when we hide our light?
How can you live in such a way as to draw attention to your heavenly Father?

THINK ABOUT IT: If someone were to interview your neighbors or coworkers, what would they say about you? Do they know you are a Christian? Do they know you are a Christian by your actions? WHAT WILL YOU DO? What is something specific you can do this week that will draw the attention of those around you to your heavenly Father?

CHANGING YOUR MIND: In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Tough Week...Tough Men

Hey guys,

I wanted to push this message out asking for your prayers for one of our fellow JourneyMEN. Randy Roach suffered a pretty serious injury at work yesterday...cutting off 2 fingers and seriously cutting another. He had surgery to re-attach one finger last night, but the next 72 hours are extremely critical. Please be praying...

Also, I wanted to update you guys on Joe Alvarez. For those who didn't know, he suffered a bad finger break and dislocation during our softball game on Monday night. Good news - it appears that no surgery required.

Lord, we ask that you help both Joe and Randy recover swiftly and completely in a short amount of time. We ask that you keep their spirit's high and allow them to heal in a manner in which they can function normally and return to work soon. God, You are the ultimate healer and we ask this in Your name...Amen

On the Journey...together

Hey guys, we are up and running because of our Communications Director, Mike Heldt - Thanks Mike for getting this launched.

I wanted to take a couple moments and share with you what the objective of this blog is:

  • Staying connected
  • Open Dialogue
  • Announcements
  • Success Stories!
  • Communication in between meetings
  • Encouragement
  • Staying Focused
  • Accountability
  • Review of session material

Rules of this blog:

  • Keep it real
  • Keep it fun
  • Keep it positive and encouraging
  • No judging

I would love this blog to be another legitimate pathway and opportunity for someone to come to know the Lord. When you post - keep this in mind and also understand the power of regular posts. There may be someone that NEEDS to read (hear) your thoughts and it is very conceivable that this can be a terrific vehicle to lead other men to relationship with each other and Christ.

Final note, this is going to be a great way for other men to get involved with our group who don't even live here. I have had several guys ask that they be added to my distribution list so they can keep up with our material. What a great way for us to broaden our reach! Keep this in mind as well - another reason I need you guys to post regularly.

Have an awesome day and I look forward to stimulating and encouraging conversation - for the glory of Him.

Have an awesome day!

Ramp it up!

I have the distinct honor and pleasure of entering the initial post for the blog of the JourneyMEN of Castle Rock. It helps that I am actually creating the blog of course. I look forward to this being a place where the men can connect to each other while staying in touch with the direction of the group.
